Partnerships

The University of Hawai‘i system on our island, which includes UH Hilo, Hawai‘i Community College, and the new Pālamanui campus in West Hawai‘i, is a major economic engine for our island with much untapped potential. In addition to providing excellent higher education for our youth, the university system is one of the largest employers of the island. The University of Hawai‘i will be key in our island’s economic recovery. As Mayor I intend on building a strong partnership with the university to bolster our county’s research & development, diversify our economy, and provide further opportunities for the youth of Hawai‘i.
